Side Baby

Side Baby

How would you describe this new album?
It is a very personal record as you can get from the artwork: it portrays the teddy bear my mom was given when I was born. But it is also a rebirth, as a matter of fact, this is the first work of a new artistic phase.
Is there a new artistic direction in this album?
More than a new artistic direction, I would call it a new approach. But nothing was calculated, everything came quite naturally because spontaneity is an essential part of who I am and the way I make music.
Is that more private?
Yes, it is very personal as I said before. Very introspective. And of course, you can get this from the music as well.
What about the feat, is that important for you? Is that something you think people give too much attention on these days?
Yes, I believe that people lately really give too much attention to feats. For sure they are important but not crucial and anyway, it's not a feat that makes a good record: having big guests does not necessarily mean having a great record.
What do you wish you had known when you first started making music?
I wish I'd known earlier that there were so many despicable people...
Is there some “Dark side” left in you?
The dark side has been dead since I left the Dark Poo Gang. Although maybe it is true, there will always be a bit of darkness in me.
"But it is also a rebirth, as a matter of fact, this is the first work of a new artistic phase" [Side Baby]
How do you think your technique has changed from the beginning to now?
I think I just got better. I get better every day and I try to improve myself not only from a technical point of view.
Is that more stressful or easier to do an album alone? How did you feel about this?
I find it much easier to work on my own. Although this time I was not completely alone and I dealt much more than usual with producers, especially The Night Skinny.
Where does the “baby” come from?
I consider “baby” as a suffix, just like Weezy F Baby.
What in life made you realise that you grew up?
My friends, the women I have been with... and everyone who, for better or for worst, I had to deal with.
Would you consider yourself someone who lives and breathes music?
For sure, I spend all of my time listening to music, 24/7, so my life is made of music.
Now you have an album to promote, do you like that?
Yes, I'm very happy about it, I want to go on tour and kick asses!
Want do to more films?
Yes I would like to do more films, especially crime movies if I get the opportunity.
What’s a song you have stuck in your head these days?
It's one from Ariana Grande: “Tank U, Next”.
What is the first album you ever owned?
The Marshall Mathers LP" by Eminem: it was a gift from my mum when I was a child.
