On the occasion of the preview days of the 2019 Venice Biennale, Spazio Maiocchi reaffirms its commitment to the support of contemporary art and culture, by presenting a special three-day pop-up club curated by Kaleidoscope and powered by The Vinyl Factory. Held in a secret location in the heart of the Laguna, the members-only hangout featured a program of artists’ contributions and live performances, while celebrating the drop of Kaleidoscope’s newest issue.
This Venice event was the kickoff of The Sonic eye, a cultural initiative dedicated to experimental practices at the intersection of contemporary art and sound that will inform the program of Spazio Maiocchi, Milan’s cultural center co-founded by Carhartt WIP and Slam Jam, for the next season Fall-Winter 2019 and Spring-Summer 2020, through a series of performances, solo exhibitions, and artist residencies. Spotlighting the increasing overlap and interplay between these liminal fields across the work of a new generation of artists, the project opens up a hybrid space for intermedia experimentation.
Cyprien Gaillard, Arthur Jafa, Kahlil Joseph, Korakrit Arunandonchai, Alex Gvojic, Henry Taylor, Hito Steyerl, Michelle Lamy, Virgil Abloh, Lafawandah, Young Girl Reading Group attended the event.
