Galeries Lafayette Champs-Élysées celebrate Earth Day from April 22 to May 10 2019. The first highpoint since the store opening, Earth Day is Galeries Lafayette Champs-Élysées’ responsible position, which honors its partnering brands committed to the ecological cause.
A global yearly event, Earth Day is the greatest civic environmental mobilization. Galeries Lafayette Champs-Élysées celebrate this special day during three weeks of events centered around ecology, sustainable development and responsible
consumption. This in-store initiative takes place in the context of the Go for good movement, instigated by Galeries Lafayette, which highlights brands that promote more responsible methods of production or consumption. Organic cotton or cosmetics, vegetal tanning, recycled or upcycled materials, ethical, solidary, charitable, local or made in France product, etc. The Go for good-approved brands must answer to at least one environmental, social or local selection criterion.
Visitors are immersed in the theme right from the entrance of the store, where Superflex, a collective of artists, have set up Après Vous, Le Déluge. This permanent installation, established since the opening of the store, consists of a sculptural blue dashed line fixed on the walls of the building’s atrium. This discontinued line embodies the indicator of an invisible yet probable limit: the estimated height of sea level rise within the next century, as a consequence of climate change.
